2ND TO 5TH YEAR

Hairstylist Momma

“Mom! Mom! Come quick!” yells both the girls from the room while I am making lunch.

“One minute,” I told them.

“No, come right now.” as their voices started getting higher in pitch, I started getting scared if everything was alright.

So, I dropped my errands and quickly ran in the room only to find out they had seen something on Youtube.

Serioulsy! As I thought to myself, girls will be girls and there is no changing that.

“Mom sit and watch this.” Kiara said excitedly. “Do this hairstyle on my  hair.”

Here I am thinking how did they manage to get this video off of Youtube and second of all, they expect me to do this hairstyle for them?

“I will do it later when I am free. Ok.” as I walked back into my routine of making lunch.

I could not agree more from day one that girls are just too adorable to dress up and fun to doll them up. Be it their clothes, accessories or hair. When they are younger, you can dress them up as you like. However, as they got older and more technology oriented, they have specific preferences.

So, later on in the day,  I am stuck on Youtube looking up The Waterfall Braid. It was the first time I had heard the name. After going through a couple of tutorials, I found a great and easy tutorial on how to do the waterfall braid.

Here is the link I used -‘How to Waterfall braid step by step by Valerie Pac.’ – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rjg_MVyak0

It took me a couple of tries before I got the hang of it. Here are the steps:

  1. Comb your hair and free it of any tangles.
  2. Do a side parting.
  3. Take a small section from the front and do two french braids.
  4. On the third braid, you let go off the left side hair.
  5. Then you pick up a small strand off hair from the bottom.
  6. You do a braid.
  7. Then you again let go off the left side hair.
  8. You repeat steps 4 to 6.
  9. Pretty soon you will have the waterfall braid look.

I feel that these braids are very pretty looking and easy to do for any occasion, but when you have highlights or lighter hair color, you can see more of the waterfall effect. With my girls, because of their black hair color, it blended in so it was hard to tell what hairstyle I had done.

Also, to further enhance the hairstyle, you can curl just those particular strands that are hanging and that does give a great party hairstyle. I would rate it a 4 out of 5 just because the waterfall effect appears more prettier on a lighter hair color than darker hair colors.
