Stunning El Matador
As my eyes glance over the whole skyline of the ocean, with the sound of the waves bouncing on my ear, and the cool breeze teasing my face gently, I was in awe by what I saw. There is this massive rock with small arches here and there owning the beach rightfully.
The drive there was beautiful and when we got there the view was also amazing. El Matador state beach is in Malibu, off of the Pacific Coast Highway past Point Dume and before Leo Carrillo. You see small signs for El Matador as you get closer and also line of cars parked up on the sidewalk.
When you walk through the parking lot, you will see a restroom and a ticket machine. Then you are going to walk down on the slope and then quite a few stairs and slope and stairs which eventually lead you down to the beach.
The best times to go are during sunrise and sunset for the best pictures. It is a popular destination for photoshoots. We went around 3pm on a cloudy day, but the pictures came out amazing.
We had a lot of fun exploring the beach, taking pictures, walking through the arches and just being explorers. It is a drive to get there so make sure you keep some food and water in the car.
El Matador’s geological features are what make it prominent from other beaches. Also, due to many years of coastal erosion, these pocket beaches have formed.
