Popular Gift Ideas for Kids
As Christmas is here, most of us will already have our gifts packed, ready to be placed under the tree while some of us will be searching frantically last minute. I am one of those moms who for some reason is always waiting last minute on the presents due to searching and searching and getting confused about what to get.
I decided to create a list of the top 5 things based on different ages. I hope this helps you in deciding what to get.
0-3 years
There are a lot of toys out there and it can get overwhelming with deciding what to get. Here are a few pointers.
First, see how versatile the toy is – meaning how many different functions it can perform because toddlers need to be continuously entertained. Second, you want toys that will grow with your child so that they can use at 6 months and also at a year.
Thirdly, toddlers like toys that look more like the real thing. You will notice that even if you have the fanciest toys, in the end, they like to play with pots and pans. - Any activity walker or cube that has different functions to it.
2. Sensory related toys that help develop their motor skills and senses.
3. Toys that work as teethers, but also great for playing.
4. These two were my favorite to have when my kids were small. The Leapfrog helped my kids learn songs and alphabets as they would repeat after it.
5. Toys that teach to build, put things together requiring more coordination skills and allow their imagination to grow.
4-6 years
Kids at this age are starting to become more of explorers, discovering themselves, learning new words, and fantasizing to become a doctor, superhero, policewoman, or princess. Therefore, I would suggest toys that help them learn math and English skills, grow their imagination, and help them with their motor skills.
- Building, breaking toys apart helps develop their brain activity, hand, and muscle movement.
2. Some art toys that help the artist come out or some cute toys that can become their best buddy are also great toys.
3. These the age to get them on training bicycles or have them ride a scooter (3-wheel or 2-wheel) or razor to the park.
4. It is definitely worth investing in educational devices that help them learn more and aid in their studying.
7-9 years
During this age, kids are building new friends and having playdates. At this age, it is very common for them to see what their friend has and want that too. Girls also like to play with more arts and crafts while boys like to explore more video or computer related games.
Also, since their concentration and attention span has increased, you want to get toys that enhance their curiosity, imagination, communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Outdoor toys are a great way to help them get some activity, build some skills, and learn new sports.
2. Girls at this age are in love with their LOL, Barbie or American Girl Dolls.

10-12 years
Literally, kids have entered the preteen age where they are learning about themself, figuring out their likes and dislikes and their personality. It is a very tricky period because each kid is developing into their own person.

2. Technology, robots, and any stem activities are definitely an all-time favorite of lots of boys.
